Sarah Jones 2003
Occupation: Journalist

When Stuart Parker found a way to visit fiancée Flick Scully in New York – by entering a ‘best boyfriend’ competition in a teen magazine with a prize of $5000 – he asked good friend Libby Kennedy to help him. They met with journalist Sarah Jones, pretending to be a couple, and Sarah asked them how they met (as neighbours) and what first attracted Libby to Stuart (that he was fun and she could always count on him). It was when Sarah asked if the relationship was long-term that they came unstuck, with Stu answering that it was, and Libby saying it wasn’t, though she quickly covered when she explained that Stuart wanted to start a family, but she wanted to wait a few more years. However, when it came to photographing the happy couple, Libby, whose husband Drew had only died a few months earlier, was unable to kiss her pretend boyfriend and ruined the whole plan by running off. Later that year, Sarah interviewed Harold Bishop about his forthcoming theatrical production, Mission: Erinsborough, though she wasn’t too impressed as he rambled on about how he had written, produced and directed the entire thing himself.
