Whilst driving to work one day, doctors Karl Kennedy and Darcy Tyler passed a building site and realised that there had been an accident. Once they got closer, they started tending to one of the builders, Sam Kinsey, who told them that another man, Jim, was trapped inside. Although they managed to get Jim out, Sam then remembered that another man, Shane, was also unaccounted for. Despite Darcy telling him to wait for the emergency services, Karl went back inside to look for Shane, just as another part of the building collapsed, leaving Darcy to rescue Karl.
