When Steph Hoyland, desperate for a child of her own, was out walking Ashley, the baby daughter of Kayla Thomas who was staying with her, she was mistaken for Ashley’s mum by young, single mother Bronnie Knight. Rather than correct Bronnie, Steph went along with the lie and was introduced to Bronnie’s son, Tyler, as the pair discussed sleepless nights and changing nappies. However, when Steph’s mum, Lyn, then came along, Steph was embarrassed by what she’d done, though Lyn didn’t really see the harm, as she understood how unhappy her daughter was.
