After disappearing from Erinsborough, following the revelation that she was the birth mother of Lyn Scully, Valda Sheergold soon found herself unwell and desperately short of money. In the end, she was forced to sell the last of her possessions, her pet poodles Blanche and Stella, to a man named Felix Loft, who promised to look after them. Not long after, Lou Carpenter and Steph Scully found Valda unconscious on a park bench, suffering from pneumonia.
