Gordon Riddell 2005

After being charged with committing euthanasia on her seriously ill grandfather Charlie Cassidy, Steph Hoyland went to trial and, after deliberation, the jury foreperson, Gordon Riddell, announced that they had found her guilty. When sentencing, Judge Roy Evans decided that her actions had shown no malice and she was given a three year suspended sentence, though the verdict was overturned at appeal a few months later.
