Earl of Doon, Lord Alastair MacDoon

The Earl of Doon, Alastair MacDoon lived in Glasgow, Scotland until his death in 1989. Although he was titled and owned the ruined remains of Castle Doon, MacDoon was not a rich man; perhaps largely due to his fondness for betting on horse races.

Alastair had two younger brothers who had both emigrated from Scotland many years earlier. One brother had moved to Canada while the younger had chosen to live in Australia. That brother's grandson was Harold Bishop, who after hearing of his Great Uncle Alastair's death believed that he was now the rightful heir to the title of Earl of Doon. Sadly for Harold, his second cousin Roy MacDoon of British Columbia, Canada had a stronger right to the title as his grandfather was older than Harold's.
