Elle MacPherson Lois Collinder
Elle MacPherson 2006
When Lou Carpenter found a mobile phone in the grounds of Lassiter’s, his friend Harold Bishop encouraged him to hand it in at the hotel reception. Lou, however, saw an opportunity to make some money by receiving a reward, so he kept it, but was shocked when the phone’s owner, Elle MacPherson called and arranged to pick it up. Believing that they were about to receive a visit from a supermodel, Lou bought up plenty of Elle posters and underwear for her to sign, so they were disappointed when a middle-aged woman turned up on the doorstep. They thought that it was simply a coincidence that she had the same name, so were surprised when she started talking about her career as an international supermodel. Lou quickly saw another chance to make money and got her to sign the merchandise anyway, but Harold was disgusted with his friend for taking advantage of a mentally ill woman. Later that evening, a man turned up to collect Elle, explaining that she’d gone missing. Elle introduced him as her driver, and he handed his business card to Lou, asking him to call if she came back. As Elle left with her nurse, Lou and Harold were greatly amused to realise that his name was Tom Jones, to which he quipped that “It’s not unusual!”
