Sasha McLain 2024
Marital Status: Veronica (Separated)

After Sasha McLain met Kiri Durant as they attended church together, Sasha - unhappy in his marriage to wife Veronica - developed an attraction to Kiri's girlfriend, Nicolette Stone. He started to put doubts in Kiri's mind about whether Nicolette was a good match for her, and also flirted with Nicolette at every opportunity. Wanting to prove that Sasha couldn't be trusted and wasn't as 'holier-than-thou' as he claimed to be, Nicolette started flirting back and although they never slept together, they would meet up in secret. This led to the breakdown of both Nicolette's relationship and Sasha's marriage, as he disappeared and she moved to the country with David, Aaron and Isla.

When Nicolette returned to Erinsborough many months later, she was surprised to find a key left outside her front door, something that Sasha used to do when they were meeting up in secret. When the key to an apartment in the Docklands then turned up, she was sure that Sasha was behind it and went there to find a bag of lingerie on the bed, but nobody there. Unable to contact Sasha, Nicolette became increasingly worried, but was in for a shock when Veronica turned up, revealing that she'd been behind the whole thing. She told Nicolette that she'd found Sasha's old tablet and had seen the emails they'd shared. Desperate to find her husband, and convinced that Nicolette knew where he was, Veronica made her life difficult, revealing everything to her family, posting pictures of her in lingerie all over the Lassiters complex, and snatching Nicolette's daughter, Isla. Desperate to find Sasha, Nicolette finally tracked him down through some of his church friends, and went to Philip Island to speak to him. She told him what was happening with Veronica, and he agreed to get in touch and make it clear that he had pursued Nicolette and wouldn't be returning to his wife. He also tried to get Nicolette to admit that she had reciprocated his feelings for her, and although she insisted that he was imagining it, and she wasn't into guys, it was clear that she wasn't being completely honest.

Hopeful that Sasha agreeing to contact Veronica would bring an end to the matter, Nicolette returned to Erinsborough, where she, David and Aaron started planning a trip to the country for a few days. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before Veronica confronted her again, having been emailed by Sasha, but refusing to believe what he was telling her. Veronica still believed that Nicolette was secretly seeing Sasha and vowed revenge. Sasha then turned up in Erinsborough a few days later, wanting one last chance to see if Nicolette shared his feelings for her. She insisted that she didn't, and that nothing would ever happen between them, but also asked Sasha to phone Veronica and speak to her, giving her a chance to put her own feelings across too. Sasha agreed and hugged Nicolette before she gave him a lift to the station, but this exchange was witnessed by a furious Veronica, who found the piece of paper with the booking for Nicolette's holiday. Believing that Nicolette and Sasha were going there together, Veronica turned up at the holiday home and confronted Nicolette. Nicolette insisted that Sasha wasn't there with her, handing over her phone and saying that Sasha's new number was on it, and to phone him and speak to him properly. Veronica did this, and Sasha told her that nothing had happened with Nicolette and that he'd been unhappy in the marriage for years. Having finally got the message, Veronica apologised for the way she'd been behaving, and Nicolette told her that she hadn't been completely paranoid, as she had felt an attraction to Sasha, but having never been attracted to a man before, she hadn't acted on those feelings.
