Mr Graham 1985
Lived: 25 Bedford Street, Erinsborough

When Lucy Robinson found an injured dog in the street, she took it home and called it Robert. Lucy was quickly becoming attached to the dog, so when neighbour Max Ramsay called by and recognised Robert, saying that he was actually called Patch and belonged to Mr Graham from Bedford Street, Lucy was very upset. She and her dad Jim then paid wheelchair-bound Mr Graham a visit, and he was delighted to hear that Patch had been found. The man and his dog were reunited and, realising how upset Lucy was, Mr Graham asked if she'd like to help him by coming to visit and taking Patch for a walk from time to time. Lucy was very happy to accept, but back at home, she started asking for a dog of her own - as the previous Robinson family dog had died after being baited, Jim was very reluctant to put them all through that again. Later, he realised that Patch's collar was still in the house, and he went to return it to Mr Graham. He told Jim about the wonderful companionship that Patch had provided since his wife had died, and said that no childhood would be complete without a pet. Thinking back to the sheepdog he'd had as a boy, Jim realised how foolish he'd been and later took Lucy to the RSPCA animal shelter, where they adopted a dog named Basil.
