Mrs Moorcroft 1990

A neighbour of Dorothy Burke’s new boyfriend, John Brice, Mrs Moorcroft made it her business to know what was going on in her apartment building. When Dorothy went to meet John at his apartment, the two of them ended up sharing a lift with Mrs Moorcroft as they left for the restaurant. Mrs Moorcroft explained to them that she was on her way to the fifth birthday party of her grandson, Seymour, and was already running late. However, all of their plans were ruined when the lift suddenly broke down and John had to reassure a worried Mrs Moorcroft that the lift cables would not snap under their weight and cause them to crash to their deaths. As she was carrying a bottle of champagne to take to the party, as well as some food and paper plates and cups, the three of them had a small picnic in the lift as they waited for help to come. Noticing that Mrs Moorcroft has nodded off, Dorothy proceeded to laugh with John about the woman and her irrational fears, little realising that she was awake and had heard every word. Fortunately, the awkward moment was broken as the little started up again, opening on the second floor. Mrs Moorcroft decided to take the stairs, since she was already so late, whilst John and Dorothy finished their date, and the bottle of champagne, in the lift.

Notes: Vanessa Ready previously appeared as Mrs Mason in 1989 and returned in 1996 as a hospital tea lady and in 1998 as Denise Wilby.
