Guest Character Profiles > Karen Ogden Karmen Raspovic

Karen Ogden 2007-
Occupation: Teacher

Whilst working at Ford College as a teacher, Karen Ogden got into a relationship with deputy principal Richard Aaronow. As Richard’s behaviour grew increasingly odd, and he accidentally called her ‘Becca’ a few times, she decided to end things between them, though he continued to call her, out of the blue, acting like they were still good friends, for years to follow. Some years later, Karen received a call from lawyer Rosetta Cammeniti, making enquiries about Richard. At first, Karen claimed that she didn’t know him, but Rosetta persisted and Karen agreed to meet her and her colleague, Toadie Rebecchi, for a chat. There, Karen learnt that ‘Becca’ – Rebecca Napier – was pressing charges of sexual assault against Richard, and she told Rosie and Toadie of her time with him and what he had done, but refused to take the matter any further or give evidence in court.

Though Toadie tried to convince her to help, Karen explained that it had taken her a long time to move on from Richard and, although she felt guilty, she didn't want to give him any reason to come after her again. Worried that Karen was their only hope, Oliver arranged to meet up with her. He told her of how Richard had made life hell for Rebecca, constantly tracking her down and leaving her no option but to take Declan and move to another area, another job and another school. His words changed Karen's mind and she agreed to help with the case, later turning up at the hospital - where Richard was seriously ill with kidney problems - and met Rebecca, and they agreed to wait a few months until Richard had fully recovered, before kicking off their civil case and making sure that he was well enough to attend court.
