On her first day at Erinsborough High, Zara Selwyn struggled to fit in and, frustrated with her mum's lack of interest, decided to get herself some attention by deliberately setting off the school's fire alarm. A few days later, having received a three-day suspension, Zara was pleased when her stunt seemed to have won her some fans, including Patrick Patinka, who called her a legend for setting off the alarm and getting them all the morning off school. She also seemed to have won over Sadie Rodwell and Aubrey Laing, two girls who'd wanted nothing to do with her on her first day. When the girls found out from Zara that teacher Jane Harris had planted a teddy cam in her house to keep an eye on her daughter Nicolette, they got hold of the teddy and left it on Jane's chair in the classroom. With Zara having already caused so much trouble, she was immediately suspected of being responsible, and she struggled to make anyone believe it wasn't her, as Patrick again called her a legend.
