When new mum Sonya Rebecchi found herself asked to leave Charlie's bar, after a customer complained about her breastfeeding, she and her friend Polly Lipcer, from her mother and baby's group, were horrified. When waitress Tash refused to apologise, the women staged a sit-in at the bar, and Polly contacted her friend Zosia, who worked at the Waratah Star newspaper, asking her to write a story about it. By the time Zosia arrived, Tash had had second thoughts about apologising, not only because of the bad publicity it would bring to the bar, but also because of the way she'd made Sonya feel self-conscious about her body. Tash made a full apology, whilst Sonya gave Zosia an idea for an alternative story, about another local newborn Patrick Villante, who had been diagnosed with a heart condition.
