After Paul Robinson, devastated by the murder of his niece Kate Ramsay, trashed Charlie's bar, the planned renovations began, despite Paul's objections. When Paul spotted builder Dave Reilly outside the bar, he asked what was going on, and Dave explained that they were just starting the refurbishment, as 'some psycho lost it and trashed the joint'. Paul was quick to point out that he hadn't authorised any work to be done, and added that he was the 'psycho' who'd caused the damage. Paul then realised that it had been hotel manager Terese who'd gone behind his back and signed off on the work.
