In the early months of 2001, Ramsay Street residents experienced both joy and tragedy. In February, after years of dithering, Drew Kirk finally made Libby Kennedy his wife, in a ceremony conducted by Reverend Loftus. Only a couple of months later, Madge Bishop, whose family ties to the area went back generations, died of pancreatic cancer. Again, Reverend Loftus led the ceremony as her friends and family said goodbye.
