Les Roland John Proper
Les Roland 1986
When Eileen Clarke organised an event for the senior citizens entitled ‘Sing-a-long With Eileen’, she was accompanied on piano by Les Roland, or ‘Leslie’ as she liked to call him. At the bank one afternoon, Les pleaded with Eileen’s son, Des, to talk her out of performing and put them all out of their misery, but it was no use. After another particularly awful rehearsal, Eileen and Les were leaving the community hall when Eileen was mugged by a girl on a motorbike. As she screamed after them, she suddenly lost her voice and, despite Eileen’s terrible experience, everyone was relieved when she was forced to pull out of performing at the concert.
