With Englishman Adam Rhodes’ Visa running out, his girlfriend Pepper Steiger took desperate measures in order to keep him around, and proposed marriage. Initially excited about the plan, Adam and Pepper were disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm from their friends and family and things got worse when they went to the registry office and met the sullen staff member Rory Grainger. Rory seemed unhappy in her work and was more interested in taking their money and pointing out the restrictions on their service, than celebrating their love. Her attitude convinced Pepper and Adam to try and find another way to be together.

Trivia Notes
• The character of Rory Grainger first appeared in 2006 and, although it seems that they worked the same job, due to the change of gender we are treating them as two different characters, rather than a recast
• Lesley Coleman previously appeared in 2006 as Marilyn Hessie
