When Erinsborough Mayor Paul Robinson was suspended from his role, and had a public meltdown whilst opening an art exhibition, due to grief over the murder of his niece Kate Ramsay, journalist Anya Salter soon turned up to try and find out more. Having had concerns over Paul's mental health for a while, Karl Kennedy had made the initial complaint against him, but soon felt guilty when Anya asked if he had any plans to take Paul's place as mayor, as he unsuccessfully run against him in the election. Karl, along with Paul's friend and hotel manager Terese Willis both told Anya that Paul had their full support and would be back to work in no time, failing to give her the juicy story that she was looking for.

Later that year, Anya was one of the journalists who approached Terese's daughter Imogen outside Lassiter's, trying to get her feelings on the news that Imogen's twin brother Josh had been responsible for a 'coward punch' that had left Chris Pappas in a coma in hospital. Terese managed to move the journalists along, but was alarmed to learn that Paul, now back in his role as mayor, was planning to increase security and CCTV cameras in the complex in the wake of the attack.
