Guest Character Profiles > Lynette Thorneycroft Libby Tanner

Lynette Thorneycroft 1994

After putting an advert in the Erinsborough News looking for a new housemate, Rick Alessi and Mark Gottlieb were happy to meet prospective tenant Lynette Thorneycroft, who was looking for a change of lifestyle. After getting on well with both Mark and Rick, they arranged for her to visit them at home later that day and, pleased with the house, she agreed to take the room, asking if she could bring a few things over the following day. When they then forgot to get a spare key cut, Mark offered her his own key so that she could come and go with her belongings. The next day, when Lynette turned up at the house with a removal van, she was spotted by young Hannah Martin, who had received a spyscope and had taken to looking out for suspicious activity on Ramsay Street. When Hannah declared that Lynette looked like a robber, she was told to go to school by her dad, Philip, who was tired of her silly games.

Meanwhile, once everyone had gone to work and she was alone in the house, Lynette started helping herself to Mark and Rick's belongings, loading them into the van, unaware that she was still being watched by Hannah. Quickly realising that she was right about Lynette, Hannah tried raising the alarm by phoning her mum, Julie, but was told off for spying again. Hannah then phoned Mark, who'd just been surprised by the arrival of his sister, Serendipity, and who also ignored Hannah's claims about Lynette, until Serendipity asked him how well he knew his new housemate. As Mark realised that he hadn't even looked at her references, he and Ren rushed back to Ramsay Street, where Hannah was already taking matters into her owns hands, having stolen the keys from Lynette's van. Lynette soon spotted what was going on, and chased after her, but Mark and Run then returned to find Lynette holding a flute that had belonged to their late mother, and they realised that Hannah had been right all along.
