When Karl Kennedy’s father, Tom, suffering from dementia, went to stay at the Carole Harvey Memorial Nursing Home in Eden Hills, his family frequently visited, though Karl’s stepson, Zeke, was reluctant to go, believing that Tom was unhappy there. Karl eventually persuaded Zeke to join them for a visit, where they found Tom happily enjoying the gardens and sitting with his new lady friend, Violet Townsend, who he believed to be his late wife, Molly. As Tom talked about milking the cow, Bessie, Zeke became upset, believing that his illness had got worse and so was surprised when he came back and found Tom, Violet and the others with Bessie, the cow from the nearby farm.
