After agreeing to have Roger Willis come into her home and demonstrate his new vacuum cleaner, Helen Daniels found herself being given the hard sell, despite having absolutely no interest in buying the machine. When her grandson, Paul arrived home, Helen quickly found a gap in which to tell Roger that she'd seen enough, but would call him if she was interested. Roger pointed out that neighbour Maria Ramsay had said the same thing, then never called, but Helen assured him that she'd keep her word, before sending him out the door.
