When his wife, Harriet, left him after writing to the advice column in the Erinsborough News, Ray Wilson was furious. He managed to find out from a friend at the paper that the columnist was local woman, Madge Bishop, and he tracked her down to The Coffee Shop. As Madge admitted that she had suggested that Harriet get a trial separation, a furious Ray told her that she’d ruined his life and he hoped that it would come back to haunt her. Later that day, Madge doubled up in pain at the end of her shift and, after some tests in hospital, it was revealed that she had inoperable pancreatic cancer.
