Stephen Wright 2019
Occupation: Director of Public Prosecutions

After pushing Finn Kelly off a cliff in self-defence, Susan Kennedy was called to a meeting with the DPP. Her lawyer, Toadie Rebecchi, pointed out the many months of psychological trauma that Finn had subjected Susan to, and that she'd been protecting her friends, and his other victims, Xanthe, Bea and Elly, when she pushed him. Director of Public Prosecutions Stephen Wright reminded Toadie that Susan and the other women had covered up what had happened, and that evidence was suggesting that Susan was just as obsessed with Finn as he was with her. He pointed out the fact that Susan had been seen visiting a comatose Finn on more than one occasion, at which point Susan - against Toadie's advice - spoke up and explained that she'd never met anyone like Finn in her many years of teaching, saying that he appeared to have no remorse for his actions and she wanted to try and understand him. She then told Stephen that although she did feel guilty for what she'd done, there was also a sense of relief that, by visiting him, she'd realised that, unlike him, she still had compassion and wanted him to recover and redeem himself. These words seemed to be enough to convince Stephen and it was ruled as self-defence with all charges against Susan dropped.
