After persuading his friend Aaron Brennan to join him for a bike ride, Karl Kennedy was upset when they stopped for a break and noticed a group of cyclists, all wearing matching outfits and seemingly looking at him and talking. Believing that they were talking about the recent rumours of him being the mystery person who was pooping in the front gardens of Erinsborough residents, he went over. He immediately said that he was the person accused of being Dr Pooper, but insisted that he was innocent. He was surprised when the leader of the group, Matty, said that they had no idea what he was talking about, and that they'd just been admiring his helmet.

Upset that he couldn't find enough people to form a cycling group of his own, Karl took the advice of his wife, Susan, and approached Matty and his friends to see if they could team up. Unfortunately, as he spoke about his and Aaron's ride that morning, Karl's stream of double entendres made it sound more like he and Aaron had been having sex rather than cycling, and Aaron was forced to step in and stop him talking. Matty then explained that his cycling group, the YAHMILs, stood for Young and Hot Men In Lycra and they only accepted new members who were under 40. To cement Karl's humiliation, Matty then told Aaron that he was always welcome to join their group if he wanted to.

The following week, Karl was shocked when he spotted someone, wearing YAHMILs riding gear, emerging from the bushes at the far end of Power Road. Unable to catch up with him, Karl took photos of the evidence he found in the bushes, then asked Aaron to infiltrate the group and find out who the pooper was. Though reluctant, Aaron agreed to go along with it, realising he was Karl's only hope of clearing his name. Aaron then approached Matty, who was happy to welcome him to the group, and joined the YAHMILs for a ride, meeting other members including Phil Raymond and Jacob Burchmore. Later, Aaron reported to Karl that the only suspicious activity was when Phil dropped back from the rest of the group, claiming to have bike problems, which Aaron thought was genuine. A frustrated Karl then asked Aaron to go out with the group again, but this time to wear a camera on his helmet and get the evidence required.

Though he drew the line at wearing the camera, Aaron agreed to go out with the YAHMILs again, looking at each of them with suspicion as they prepared to start their ride. After wondering if Phil might be the culprit, as he emerged from the bushes where he was supposedly trying to get phone reception, Aaron joined Matty and the others for the ride, where he noticed Jacob breaking off from the rest of the group. Aaron then caught Jacob squatting in the bushes and took a photo, before reporting back to Karl.
