Actress and comedienne Lesley Baker rose to fame in 1969, starring on In Melbourne Tonight before hosting her own Incredible Lesley Baker Show the following year.
Born in January 1944 in Melbourne, Lesley starred in many prominent television shows as an actor, including Division 4, Homicide and Matlock Police before winning one of her biggest roles in Prisoner (or Prisoner Cell Block H, as it is known in the UK), playing Monica Ferguson in 1979. She would later return to Prisoner as a different character, 'Tinker' Peters, in 1983.
Her career strengthened, playing guest characters in different programmes, including The Flying Doctors, Stingers and Seachange, as well as in various episodes of Blue Heelers between 1994 and 2004.
It was in 1995 that Lesley took on the role of mouthy but caring Angie Rebecchi, mother of Jarrod 'Toadfish' Rebecchi in Neighbours, a role she would play as part of the regular cast for a year. In 2002, Lesley made the first of many guest appearances as Angie, when the character was used to cover for the absence of actress Madeleine West, who had been involved in an accident and had to be written out at short notice. Lesley then continued to pop in and out of the series when required, usually for one of Toadie's many weddings, or to interfere in his love life.
