James Condon

Born on 27th September 1923 in Fremantle, Western Australia, James Condon began his media career on ABC Radio in 1942, as he was on the RAAF Reserve awaiting call-up, and he
went on to serve in the Air Force during World War II. After a spell
in the UK, working for the BBC, he returned to Australia where he acted in radio serials. He went on to act in television plays, and in 1961, he played the lead role in The Story of Peter Gray, one of Australian television's first soap
operas. His other early television roles included The Outcasts, The Patriots, I Married A Bachelor and Number 96.
Later in his career, James appeared in soap operas Sons and Daughters, Prisoner and A Country Practice, whilst his stage and film roles included Scobie Malone, Barnaby And Me, Super Sleuth,
Evil Angels and Tim. He also spent many years recording talking books.
In 1977, James married fellow actor Anne Haddy. He went on to appear opposite her twice during her 12 years appearing as Helen Daniels in Neighbours, firstly in 1985 and 1986 as conman Douglas Blake, and again in 1995, as Helen's third husband,
Reuben White. Anne passed away in 1999, and James continued to act, with guest role in television series Something In The Air and the TV movie After The Deluge.
James died peacefully on 14th February 2014, at the age of 90.
