Sheree Murphy
Played: Dakota Davies
Appeared: 2014
Born in Islington, London, Murphy has been learning the art of acting since she was only nine years old, when she started at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Murphy then
went on to study at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After performing in a musical at the age of twelve, she cut short her acting to work her way through school as a hairdressing assistant. Her first notable role was a short but memorable
appearance in a 1996 Only Fools and Horses Christmas special entitled Heroes and Villains, where she appeared as a female mugger.
No more than two years after this appearance, she landed her most recognisable role, as Tricia Dingle on Emmerdale. Just after landing her role as Tricia Dingle, Murphy met footballer Harry Kewell and the two married in Las Vegas in 2002.
Murphy spent 6 years playing Tricia, but decided to spend more time raising her two young children, resulting in her character being killed off in 2004.
She started to raise her children full-time, but in 2005, Murphy returned to screens briefly to take part in the fifth series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! where she came second to Carol Thatcher. Murphy then continued to
raise her family for six years, whilst doing a string of presenting jobs such as hosting the I’m a Celebrity… spin-off show alongside Phillip Schofield, as well as appearances on This Morning, hosting ITV2’s coverage of
The British Soap Awards, Footballers’ Cribs and becoming a regular panellist on Loose Women. Sheree then returned to TV drama with The Royal and then Hollyoaks, where she landed her second big soap role as
Eva Strong. Murphy was in the soap for just under a year, and did not sign a new contract with the soap due to family commitments, causing her to be written out with the door left open for a return if she wanted it.
Murphy moved to Australia in 2011 with her family to support her husband’s career but months after they had settled, Murphy started travelling to and from England to look after her mother who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer,
which she later defeated in March 2014. This meant that she was available to make a short return to Hollyoaks in 2011.
In 2014, she landed a guest role in Neighbours as one of Paul Robinson’s many old flames, Dakota Davies. Murphy revealed she was pleased to get the role as she watched the soap religiously when she was growing up. She has expressed
an interest in returning to the soap. In 2015, she took part in Celebrity Masterchef where she made it to the semi-finals of the competition.
