With Neighbours undergoing a massive revamp, there are huge changes ahead for UK fans of the show. One of the most obvious is the cast comings and goings – and new arrival Jane Hall, who plays Oliver Barnes’ biological mother, Rebecca Napier, is thrilled to be part of the Ramsay Street revolution.

“It’s really exciting to have come into the show at this time – it’s the beginning of a new era,” she smiles. “It feels like the right time in my life to be taking on a long-term role. Also, I fell in love with the character of Rebecca immediately. She’s a survivor!”

Although Rebecca rejected Oliver when he first tracked her down, she has a change of heart this week – but lays down strict guidelines regarding their relationship. “She does want to get to know her son, but she doesn’t want her younger boy, Declan, to be aware that Oliver exists, because he has no idea that he’s got a big brother,” reveals Jane. “Rebecca will only see Oliver on the condition they keep it a secret.”

While that stance may seem harsh, there are big reasons behind her decision, which will be revealed in time… “Rebecca’s had a difficult journey through life,” Jane sighs. “She’s a very private person because she’s had to be. In many ways, her life’s in turmoil.”

Meanwhile, sparks are set to fly between Rebecca and Paul when they cross paths in future episodes – but Jane’s giving nothing away about the potential for romance! “I can’t say too much,” teases the 36-year-old actress. “But I’m a big fan of Paul, so I was very pleased to hear that he and Rebecca could be hooking up!”
