Your site says Scott
and Charlene were married in 1987. But I remember the BBC
showing that episode in 1988. Why the confusion?
What
is Neighbours?
Neighbours is a fictional television serial, filmed and set
in Melbourne, Australia. It follows the day-to-day lives of
a group of families and friends who live in Ramsay Street,
a cul-de-sac in the fictitious suburb of Erinsborough.
When
and where can I watch Neighbours?
Neighbours is broadcast in more than 50 countries around
the world, via a mix of international and local broadcasters.
A selection of the countries that show Neighbours,
including the times of screenings each day, is located in
the Broadcast Times section of
this site.
Where
can I find out about the show's development and history?
A history of the show can be found by clicking here.
Where
is Neighbours filmed?
The set of Ramsay Street is in reality a residential cul-de-sac
called Pin Oak Court in the suburb of Vermont, Melbourne.
Interior scenes for Neighbours are filmed in Studio
B of the Global Television Complex in Nunawading - another
suburb in Melbourne. The set of the Lassiter's Hotel and its
shops, as well as the road that houses Grease Monkeys and
the garage, are also located here.
Can
I visit the sets?
As a public street, tourists are more than welcome to visit
the set of Ramsay Street, and it can be located by taking
a train to Glen Waverley Station and then a bus to the top
of Weeden Drive. Pin Oak Court is the third road on the left
as you walk down Weeden Drive. Because filming and rehearsal
takes place on most days, tours of the studio are not permitted. The Neighbours production office
quotes: "Due to the multitude of requests we receive
each week from people wishing to visit the set of Neighbours,
Grundy Television has had to introduce a closed set policy."
If you are in Melbourne, however, it is well worth checking
out some other locations occasionally used for filming, such
as the hospital and exterior of Erinsborough High. The Official Neighbours Tour offers weekday tours around Melbourne which take
in The Court and other notable filming sites for a charge
of $50 and a weekend tour including the backlot for $68. You can find out more about the tour by visiting their
website at www.neighbourstour.com.au.
How
can I meet the show's actors?
If you're lucky enough to see Neighbours scenes filmed
in and around Melbourne, you may get the opportunity to meet
the stars - as well as seeing them film, albeit from a distance,
if visiting Pin Oak Court. There are official "Neighbours
Nights" held at a pub in St Kilda every Monday night,
where a selection of Neighbours actors drop by to meet
fans and sign autographs. Tickets can be booked by visiting www.neighbourstour.com.au.
Can
I become an extra on the show?
Only Equity registered actors are awarded roles (no matter
how small) on Neighbours. If you are serious about
a career in television acting, it is advisable to start off
by joining local theatre groups and taking part in smaller
productions. Many casting agents prefer experience of the
stage before awarding a television role.
I
want to write to the show's actors. How do I go about it?
If you would like to write to an individual actor, you can
do so by sending your letter to the following address:
[Actor's
name]
Neighbours
FremantleMedia Australia
100 Hawthorn Road
Nunawading
VICTORIA 3131
Australia
Please
remember the Neighbours actors are extremely busy,
and it may take several weeks for them to respond to your
letter. Typically, you can expect a signed fancard from them
and occasionally a letter. If you would prefer a non-signed
fancard sent from the publicity office instead, you can write
with your reguests to:
Neighbours
C/o. Network TEN
Private Bag 5000
South Yarra
VICTORIA 3141
Australia
By
requesting cards from the publicity department, as opposed
to the actors, you will invariably get a quicker response.
Can
I purchase Neighbours episodes on video?
Selected Neighbours episodes spanning the show's history
are available on VHS and DVD. For more information, click

Where
can I buy music featured on the show?

Your
site says Scott and Charlene were married in 1987. But I remember
the BBC showing that episode in 1988. Why the confusion?
This site adopts the original Australian airdates for all
episode summaries and guides, with the exception of the weekly
review of BBC and UK Gold episodes. Neighbours launched
in March 1985 in Australia, but it wasn't until October 1986
that those same episodes were shown in Britain. Because Network Ten and now Eleven pauses screenings of Neighbours over the Christmas
period in Australia - the BBC and now Channel 5 show it more or less all the
year round - British episodes have gradually caught up with
those of Australia. Although the gap between showings in both
countries is considerably less than the 18 months it was in
the 1980s, the UK is usually around 4-6 weeks behind Australia.
To maintain this gap, Channel 5 regularly
take Neighbours off air at Christmas.
