There were fresh starts for many characters this month, not to mention for the Lassiter’s Complex…

Whilst changing a flat tyre, he suffers a heart attack and calls both Susan and Izzy. In hospital, he recovers but isn’t sure whether to give Izzy another chance

Sindi decides to spend the night with a former lapdancing client, Gary Evans, to get the money to fund Stu’s eye operation. However, she then bets the money with him on a flip of a coin and ends up getting the cheque without sleeping with Gary. Stu is furious and rejects the money, so Sindi gives it away to the Salvation Army, just before Stu changes his mind

Janelle returns to town to work as an apprentice at the salon and, whilst she is pleased to see Stingray doing so well, she finds it harder to bond with Dylan

The new Lassiter’s complex opens, complete with Lou and Harold’s General Store and the Scarlet Bar, run by Max and Izzy

Five Years Ago - March 2001

A shocking diagnosis for one neighbour, while another exposed quiz show corruption, before leaving town for good…

• Madge secretly becomes the Erinsborough News’ new advice columnist, but she soon has other things to worry about when she finds herself in terrible pain. A visit to hospital reveals that she has pancreatic cancer and may only have months to live

Jess is the immediate suspect when there’s a bomb scare at the school, just as she and Tad are due to give a presentation

Tess and Lyn both become victims of self-obsessed Beauty Treet spokesman Richie Hampson, as he tries to persuade Tess to act as his pretty date for functions, whilst almost brainwashing Lyn into investing in the company

Lou’s friends are suspicious of his behaviour as his problem with prescription drugs gets out of control. Drew finally persuades him to seek help for his addiction

Drew and Libby return from their honeymoon and move into a flat, close to Ramsay Street

A second bomb scare causes concern, especially as this time, a bomb explodes in a bomb on school grounds. Although nobody is injured, Jess is still the prime suspect for causing all of the trouble

Flick and Joel continue a secret relationship, whilst she receives attention from a stalker, who tricks her into meeting him. It turns out to be student Colin Rogers, who was also responsible for the bombs

Lance appears on radio quiz BrainBusters to earn money to travel to America with Allana. He does well and is popular, so the producers give him the questions for the next round, to make sure he stays. Lance, however, exposes the corruption live on air, before leaving town with Allana
