One Year Ago - May 2006

An old face returned, with a new habit, while Robert seemed to have found his next victim…

 

• Connor is contacted by Lucia Cammeniti, who is concerned that Carmella has been missing for months. He tracks her down to a convent and she admits that she did something awful and is now making up for her evil ways

Giving up on being a private eye, Connor decides to travel around Australia. As he’s about to leave, Carmella calls, having found ‘Cameron’s’ identical twin in a coma. When Robert realises that his plot is about to be uncovered, he asks Connor inside – and it’s the last anyone in Ramsay Street sees of him…

When Cassie is taken ill, Karl and Susan spend the night watching over her, before she dies, and the old spark between them returns

Katya and Robert continue seeing each other, with her, and everyone else, still believing that he is actually Cameron. When a figure from Katya’s past, businessman Sean Dempster, arrives to do business with Paul, she’s terrified that Rachel and Zeke will find out what she used to get up to. Robert helps her, and damages his father’s deal, by murdering Sean


Boyd returns from his time working at a rural hospital, having come to terms with his feelings for Janae, and he surprises her by proposing

With Sky depressed after splitting up with Dylan, and Stingray unable to be with Rachel due to the age difference, the pair find consolation in each other and end up having a one-night stand

The day of Kim and Janelle’s re-wedding finally arrives, with Kev and Angie returning for the occasion, but it looks like it’s going to end in disaster when the police come after Kim, having found out about his pirated DVD business…

 

Five Years Ago - May 2002

A fire and several farewells as Neighbours celebrated its 4000th episode…

• A fire breaks out at the church, when Lou leaves some silk flowers by a candle and shares a kiss with Rosie. The pair are trapped, but Flick sees what’s happening and raises the alarm, before helping Lou and Rosie to escape

After selling their home to Mal Kennedy, the Hancocks bid Ramsay Street a sad farewell and go to stay with Maggie’s parents in Albury

After finally realising that her mum does care about her, Elly decided to give Liz a chance and thanks Karl for everything before leaving for Sweden. Mal also realises the error of his ways and quits his job with Cuppa Diem, before patching things up with his dad and returning to London

Rosie’s granddaughter Summer makes her first appearance in Ramsay Street and is soon causing trouble, selling stale cookies and accidentally telling Harold that Lou and Rosie are a couple

Marc and Flick realise their love for each other, but, believing Steph is pregnant, he goes ahead with his wedding. During the vows, Steph suddenly notices the looks between her sister and her fiancé and runs off. Steph, meanwhile, disappears to Sydney, followed by Marc and Stuart

Tad plans to rejoin the Extreme Sports tour in America, only to find that his passport is mysteriously missing and he’s run up debt on credit cards he doesn’t remember using

Darcy finds himself attracted to new patient Penny Watts, but realises that they can’t get involved as he’s already on very thin ice with Karl

 


Ten Years Ago - May 1997

Boxing and battling receptionists made for an interesting month...

 

• Ben’s revelation that he’s Ruth’s son causes a huge rift in the Wilkinson family, though they gradually come to terms with the new arrangement. Anne changes her mind at the last minute after deciding to go and live with her dad again, while Lance and Ben bond over an interest in boxing

Libby finds a new job as a housekeeper for blind Rohan Kendrick. He’s then offered a place to stay with Lou and Marlene, but struggles to cope and decides to leave. Libby is driving him away from Erinsborough when they stop in the bush and Libby slips down a cliff. When Rohan manages to stop a truck and get help for her, he realises that he’s not helpless, and returns to Erinsborough

Sarah starts work for Karl as his part-time receptionist, alongside Marlene. The pair are quickly at loggerheads when they find out about a Receptionist of the Year contest

Debbie and Darren become a couple, despite their past issues with each other, but she quickly becomes jealous when he spends time with Libby, despite Libby being more interested in Rohan

Lou starts coaching Lisa’s netball team, but she soon realises that he’s simply looking for an opportunity for sponsorship for the pub

A lunch to celebrate Billy’s birthday ends badly when Karl wants to pay, and Billy takes offence, thinking he’s being patronised and treated like a child

Twenty Years Ago - May 1987

An explosion, a death and an old face with a new face made for a busy month…

• Japanese businessman Mr Udagawa is about to close on an important deal with Paul and the Daniels Corporation and Paul tries to convince Gail to marry him, to help the deal along

Jeremy and Gail get back together, much to Paul’s upset, but she’s shocked when Jeremy announces plans to race the cursed racing car, Number 13. Although she tries to stop him, he goes out on the track, and crashes. Gail is shocked by his death and a further surprise is in store when his wife, Meredith, arrives

Lucy returns to Erinsborough (slightly older, with Sasha Close taking over the role from Kylie Flinker) after three months in Europe, full of stories about her travels

Sue moves in with Charlene at the caravan, but the pair struggle to get along. Meanwhile, drop-out Greg Davis hides some stolen goods – including a can of petrol under the van. When Scott and Charlene decide to have a barbecue and knock the petrol over, it causes an explosion, though they both escape with only minor cuts and bruises

Daphne refuses to give up her work at the Coffee Shop during her pregnancy, but when she starts having dizzy spells, she’s sent to hospital to be kept under observation

Henry gets a job selling ice cream, but is immediately under suspicion when the ice cream depot is robbed. Henry is forced to admit that, at the time of the robbery, he was with an old mate from prison, who he lent money to. More bad luck comes Henry’s way when Sue splits up with him and goes off with Warren Murphy

Charlene gets a new job, hoping to raise the money for a flat, selling a furniture polish called Liquid Beauty. But after shelling out $500 for her initial stock, Charlene is horrified when it starts stripping the varnish instead of polishing it
