Ramsay Street saw major developments in many relationships this week, although not all for the better…

Rachel questioned Stingray about his drinking, saying he was using alcohol to boost his confidence. Stingray struggled to give his presentation to his tutorial group as his nerves got the better of him, but after having a few lunchtime drinks at Scarlet Bar, he found himself able to make his presentation, thus impressing his tutor and eventually impressing his classmates. Gail phoned to mention that Robert was missing and asked Paul if he’d heard anything, as he was meant to contact Auntie Joan in London, but had had no contact with anyone for weeks. After Paul told “Cameron” and Elle off for their constant “Robert bashing”, he told them that he wasn’t about to give up on one of his kids without a fight, leading Robert to wonder if Paul really was a bad as he thought. Paul soon lost any respect he had earned after calling Robert childish after learning about him from “Cameron” and Elle, leading Robert to led his mask slip.

Karl boasted about his relationship with Jenny to Max, but acted completely different around Susan, leaving Izzy to bounce back to her bitchy best and rub Susan’s face in it. Leaving Karl red faced, especially after Susan told him that if they were going to move on in their lives, they need to stop worrying about the other person’s reaction. Izzy begged Max & Steph to let her babysit Charlie, and after much convincing from Max, Steph eventually relented. As Izzy relished spending time on her own with Charlie, Robert lurked in the background, somehow getting from the stairwell to the laundry room without Izzy noticing, and as Izzy fell asleep, he turned the heating back on without igniting it, leaving the house filling with gas… As Lyn called by to see Paul, she smelt gas, looking in the window and noticing Izzy & Charlie on the sofa; she raced around the back and found a way in. As she rescued Charlie and was running out the front door, Paul and “Cameron” returned, and as the latter ran in to get Izzy, he ‘realised’ that the heating was still on. After racing to the hospital, Max & Steph told Izzy that she had lost her chance with Charlie, leading Paul to question why she always sabotages her own happiness and Izzy to confess to Paul that she couldn’t have children. There was one positive out of the whole situation as, after Lyn rescued Charlie, Steph made up with her mum.

The Kinski kids began to worry about Susan and wondered what they could do to make her feel better, and came up with an act to get Susan to ask them to move in. Despite Susan seeing straight through it, she was delighted when the three moved into number 28, telling Katya that her father would be proud of her thoughtfulness. As Susan told Katya to take advantage of their new living arrangement and enjoy life with “Cameron”, Robert began to worry that he was becoming too distracted by Katya, and on a visit to see the real Cameron in hospital, he told his comatose twin that he would “miss her.” Is Katya about to meet her maker?

Janae began to feel jealous of the extra attention Bree was receiving, but soon found out what had been going on when she mistakenly opened a letter for her mum, addressed ‘J. Timmins’ and discovered that Bree wasn’t really her sister. After confronting Janelle & Kim about her discovery, she told them to tell Bree, or she will, leaving Kim & Janelle struggling to tell Bree the truth. After Jenny convinced Karl to exorcise Izzy from his life, and apartment, he asked her to move in with him. However, when Susan called round to ask Karl to return to work as school counsellor and heard the news, Jenny seemed not to notice Susan’s awkwardly sanguine reaction to the news, Karl seemed to wonder if there was something more behind his ex-wife’s quick exit. As Bree remained down to earth, despite her newfound fame, Zeke began to feel inadequate for such a popular novelist.

After making up with Sky, Dylan told her that she shouldn’t let his feelings about J.P. affect her work, and should rejoin his classes, and go to his art exhibit. Sky wasn’t the only Mangel having relationship trouble this week, as Joe Mangel’s constant excuses for not visiting pushed Lyn closer to Paul. Boyd struggled to move on from Janae, but blamed his jealousy on Janae, but as they went their separate ways to functions with Sasha and Ned, they struggled to hide their true feelings when a memory of their past happiness reminded them of what they were missing. Lou admitted to Mishka that he didn’t sell the General Store, Paul stole it from him in a hostile takeover and after hearing this, she convinced him that he should fight to get his store back.

Finally this week, Stingray struggled with his attraction to Rachel, especially when they went around to number 24 to use the pool, Lyn pushed Steph into letting Paul market her baby utility belt idea, Boyd won a Rural Medical placement and Karl & Ned were a surprise hit at Scarlet Bar’s Open Mic Night.

Notes: Earlier this year, it was announced that, in the ten-week build-up to episode 5000, the writers would be slipping the episode block number (a block being a set of 5 episodes) into the scripts each week, but some of them would be missing due to changes to the script, or episode. The number 991 was supposed to have been mentioned in Friday’s episode as the number of J.P’s art gallery exhibit, but was unfortunately edited out.

In Tuesday’s episode, in what was most likely a tongue-in-cheek reference to the current storyline with Robert/Cameron, Rachel asked Susan “Did they catch Rosalita impersonating her comatose twin sister?” in Lust Na Vila, the soap opera Libby & Susan became obsessed with in 2004. Also in Tuesday’s episode, Stingray told Katya & Zeke he had been banned from the football stadium for five years after streaking there a couple of years ago, which was a reference to his first episode.
