The death of a long-term resident united Ramsay Street in more ways than one…

After recording Izzy talking about her feelings for Paul, Robert set about editing them to make it sound like she were coming onto him and then rang his mobile phone, using the edited recording to have “Izzy” leave a voicemail message. After a reluctant “Cameron” told Elle, she played the message back to her dad, leaving him heartbroken. Meanwhile, Izzy told Max she had finally realised that she loved, but upon her return home, a furious Paul threw her and her belongings out, much to Karl & Susan’s amusement. Devastated, Paul told “Cameron” and Elle to pack their things and return to live with Gail, however he was touched when Elle & “Cameron” refused to go and let him go through his heartbreak alone. Meanwhile, an innocent and confused Izzy assumed that Elle was to blame, but was shocked when Elle played her the message she supposedly left on Cam’s voicemail, made up of their past conversations and soon she realised that “Cameron” was the cause of her problems.

Meanwhile, Lyn found herself becoming closer to Paul after he opened up to her about Izzy’s ‘betrayal’ He told her he’d lied to every single woman he’d been with except Izzy, and she lied to him. Lyn told him to find someone who reflects the good things in him. Did she mean her? It seemed so judging by her reaction to Paul telling her that she was more than just an employee. As Elle & Sky tried to settle into their new jobs, they found their own very different sales pitches. Elle decided to flirt with the customers, whilst a depressed Sky made people feel sorry for her. Elle soon found herself having fun, especially when she rang Harold at The General Store.

Harold was furious that Lou still hadn’t told Mishka that Harold owned number 24 and after Mishka started talking about cutting down trees to plant vegetables, Lou was forced to tell the truth, but his version of the truth differed from everyone else’s as he told her that he had lost the house to Harold in a card game. His fibbing backfired when Mishka set about trying to get it back.

Toadie returned and was shocked to answer the door to Carmella dressed as a nun, and even more shocked when Connor told him she was about to take her vows. After discovering Carmella’s plan to stay at Lassiter’s for a while in order to test her faith, Connor suggested she stay at number 30 for a true taste of real life. Connor struggled to know how to treat “Sister Carmella”. Toadie told him to act as normal with her and be the friend that she needs. Toadie tried to get them back together. Carmella enjoyed one last taste of her old life, but soon realised that clubbing was no longer for her.

When Susan suggested going to an under 15’s Pie night at the local football club, Zeke pointed out that it was more of a dad thing, so she suggested inviting Karl, however when Karl failed to arrive Susan felt out of place and Zeke was left disappointed. Annoyed at her ex-husband, Susan tearfully told him in front of Jenny’s political party at Scarlet Bar that he is as unreliable as ever. Sensing the emotion in Susan’s voice, Jenny told Karl that she would have to reconsider her assumptions about them, as it seemed to her that Susan still holds a torch for him. Susan however was forced to eat humble pie when she arrived home and checked her voicemail, having left her mobile phone behind, missing Karl’s call to explain he would be late. Zeke admitted to Susan that the real reason he got upset was that seeing those fathers and sons together made him miss his own dad.

After putting a stop to the DVD business, Kim dedicated himself to selling hot dogs and finally admitted the truth about his scam to Janelle. She was furious and told Kim to get Dylan out of it, as if their son had to go to jail because of Kim’s stupidity, she would never forgive him. After trying to get his son to pull out, Kim finally got Dylan to admit how much Sky had hurt him and to give up the DVD business and move on from it, and Sky. They were shocked though when the remaining money went missing, however, Janelle soon told her overjoyed family that she had used the money as a deposit on a house for them all. Bree was left with some explaining to do as the Erinsborough news reported that Bree had made up the boy in the bubble story, and her publisher, Melody was furious. She told Bree that she had to visit hospitals and Old Peoples' Homes to improve her image, as if the chance of a further book deal was looking shaky.

Still against their engagement, Max planned to put an end to Boyd & Janae’s wedding by inviting Janae to move in with them, in a hope that they would become so annoyed by each other’s bad habits that they would break up. As he told Kim & Janelle of his plan, they loved it, but Steph was wary. Unbeknownst to them though, Boyd & Janae overheard Max talking and planned to prove him wrong. Steph soon saw straight through it their ‘mature’ couple act and got them to stop playing games as they might just prove Max wrong anyway.

After calling out the vet to tend to a sick Casserole, Susan was sad to discover that the Kennedy family sheep was dying. As Karl called round, the two reminisced about the day Billy brought her home from his paper round, and shared their contrasting views on her naming. After Karl said he’d like to be there until the end, he and Susan called Malcolm, Libby and Billy to tell them the sad news. Karl was touched when Billy told him that he loved him. The next day, Susan, Karl, Rachel & Audrey buried Cassie in the back garden of number 28 and were surprised when many of the residents of Ramsay Street turned up to say goodbye to Erinsborough’s favourite sheep. After a short service, Susan, Karl and Lyn reflected on the day and after Susan saw Karl to the door, Lyn pointed out that Karl & Susan seemed like they were still married couple and that if she wanted him back, all she had to do was click her fingers.

Also this week, Stingray tried to warn Rachel off her new boyfriend, Harold & Lyn shared a touching moment remembering Liljana, Stingray enlisted Sky & Harold in making his new Zombie film and not realising the importance of her actions, Carmella gave a missing “Robert Robinson” a bed bath at St. Luke’s Hospice.

Notes: Earlier this year, it was announced that, in the ten-week build-up to episode 5000, the writers would be slipping the episode block number (a block being a set of 5 episodes) into the scripts each week, but some of them would be missing due to changes to the script, or episode. The number 995 was supposed to have been mentioned in Friday’s episode as part of the name of Stingray’s Zombie film, but unfortunately didn’t make it into the finished episode.

This week saw rare appearances of number 32’s master bedroom, which seemed to be a reworking of the number 30 living room set. Meanwhile, Friday’s episode saw the final appearance of Casserole the sheep. A full, illustrated summary of it can be viewed here.
