After making their way into the farmhouse, Karl was hurt when Susan pushed him away, blaming what had happened on the emotion of the past few days and the memories the house holds. Rachel & Zeke were thrilled when Susan returned and revealed the lamb; Zeke suggested naming her Chop, of which Susan thought Casserole would’ve approved. Susan apologised for not making it to Alex’s birthday celebrations and suggested doing something to celebrate it tonight, already having agreed to go to Stingray’s movie screening; Rachel said she couldn’t as she was going out with Bree. After she had left, Susan suggested that she and Zeke go and support Stingray at his screening, leaving him struggling to keep Rachel’s secret. As they sat watching the film, Susan’s mind was on other things and heard Stingray’s zombie telling her that she was kidding herself and was still in love with Karl. Meanwhile, Karl was surprised when Jenny arrived back from Canberra early, feeling bad for not being there for him, but as they ate dinner, Jenny made a confession. She told Karl that she had fallen it lust with someone else and apologised for being such a hypocrite after the hard time she’d given him about Susan, but was relieved when Karl admitted that he’d kissed Susan that morning and hadn’t been able to think about anything else all day. After telling Jenny what had happened after the kiss, she told him to chase Susan as they belong together. After returning home, the kids went to bed and Susan found herself alone thinking of Karl & Alex. Later, Jenny said her goodbyes to Karl, but soon returned having forgotten her phone. As Karl went to look for it, Susan turned up and seeing Jenny there apologised and tried to leave, but Jenny stopped her, explaining the situation and told her to give Karl another chance. As Karl returned with Jenny’s phone, he was shocked to see Susan standing there, and ecstatic to hear her declare her love for him. After consummating their reunion, Susan suggested that they wait a while before going public, but the pair found themselves unable to keep their hands off each other and met up at their forbidden spot from October 1997, in the bushes by Lassiter’s lake.
Meanwhile, Karl was annoyed to discover that Ned had let Justine join Oodles ‘O’ Noodles without asking him and felt she was trying to push him out of the group so she could take over, Susan told him to stand his ground.

Harold returned and caught Lou & Mishka moving boxes of “Old 997” out of the house, as he reissued their eviction order, Sky told him to let them stay as they’d helped her through the toughest two weeks of her life, announcing her pregnancy. Harold was shocked, and immediately began lecturing Sky over her stupidity, but after calming down, he apologised for his reaction, as he didn't want her to be scared to share things with him like Kerry was with her pregnancy. Sky shared her concerns at becoming a mother, and questioned her readiness. Despite his views about the sanctity of life, Harold offered Sky his full support. As Dylan called round to see how Sky was after the abortion, he was shocked when she revealed that she didn’t go through with it. Furious at being shut out, Dylan told her she was on her own. Meanwhile, Stingray asked Sky if he could be the father, but she assured him he wasn’t, meanwhile, just behind them in the bushes, Karl & Susan were shocked to overhear part of their conversation, that Sky was pregnant. Thankful for what they’d done for Sky, Harold asked Lou & Mishka to stay, whilst Sky announced that she’d decided she was ready to be a mother, leaving Harold overjoyed. Still worried about Sky, Harold asked Susan’s opinion. She told him that Sky would’ve made her choice for her own reasons and told him to look for the positives; that he’s going to be a great-grandfather, and after everything he and Sky have lost, this could be their bit of joy. Thinking of his lost family, Harold agreed.

Summer arrived back and was ready to help Boyd & Janae plan their wedding but after finding out that no one else seemed interested, took it upon herself to change their minds. Annoyed by his dad, Boyd suggested to Janae that they get married as soon as possible, just the two of them and she agreed, heading over to number 26 to find her fake birth certificate, telling Bree & Summer the news as she did so. As Boyd & Janae headed to the town hall for their wedding along with their sisters, Summer decided to tell her dad & Steph despite promising not to. Shocked at the news, Max, Steph & Janelle raced to them, hoping to get there before the ceremony started, but despite Bree & Summer’s best efforts to delay the ceremony, Max, Steph & Janelle arrived only in time to see the celebrant present them with their marriage certificate and announce them officially Mr & Mrs Hoyland. Whilst Janelle & Steph were overjoyed, despite their disappointment at missing the ceremony, Max was less than happy and arrived at the reception at number 30, announcing that Janae had used a fake birth certificate, thus making their marriage null and void. Fuming, Boyd told Max that the marriage was good enough for them how it was, and if he reported them he would never speak to him again. Meanwhile, whilst doing Toadie’s washing, Janae discovered the cheques from Max in his trouser pocket, and realised he had been double dipping. As Toadie arrived at the reception, Boyd told him to buy them a case of French Champagne, or he’d tell everyone the truth about the rent swindle, whilst Janae decided to make him their slave for a while. After Toadie packed their going-away bags, he, Katya, Izzy, Steph and Janelle waved them off on their honeymoon.

As Robert made plans for the camping trip, Katya continued to insist that he was the guilty twin to no avail and as Toadie told Paul that he could no longer represent Cameron because he refused to admit his guilt, Robert & Gail went to visit him in prison. As Rob told his brother about the camping trip, Gail was shocked by Cameron’s reaction, warning his twin that if he hurt Paul, he’d kill him. Later, as he prepared to go on the camping trip, Robert told Gail that everything he’d ever done was all for her. Meanwhile, as Paul & Robert stopped off at Scarlet Bar to pick up some beer and wine (presumably the champagne was in the car already), Robert accidentally bumped into Katya, knocking her to the floor. As he lend down and outstretched a hand to help her up, Katya had a flashback to the ravine, and this time knew for sure that it was Robert she had been dating, and tried to convince Toadie that Robert was going to kill Paul. Going around to number 22, Katya struggled to get Gail, Elle & Izzy to believe her and picked up Elle’s phone to ring Paul and warn him. When Robert answered, she went quiet and passed the phone onto Gail, wanting to make sure everything was alright, Gail asked to speak to Paul, but Robert pretended that the line was dropping out and hung up. After putting the pieces of the puzzle together, Gail realised that Katya was right, but Toadie, Izzy & Elle were still doubtful, but Gail, Izzy & Elle decided to go after them to be sure. Having drugged Paul, Robert took his unconscious father to an old mine shaft and tied him up. When he came around, Paul began to realise that Robert was behind “Cameron’s” crimes. After admitting to his father what he’d done, and why he’d done it, Robert collapsed the entrance to the shaft, leaving his father buried alive.

Also this week, Max took Steph out to cheer her up, apparently on a recreation of their first date, although ended up in the park rather than Lassiter’s Hotel, but Steph was shocked to see a limo turn up to take them out to dinner at Lanzini’s. Ned left Lyn questioning her mothering skills with Oscar, having gone through postnatal depression, but Paul assured her that she was a good mother. Lyn was furious when Ned later warned her about her relationship with Paul and informed him it was strictly business, and none of his and finally, Bree received a letter from her natural mother and decided to try out a new look.
Notes: Earlier this year, it was announced that, in the ten-week build-up to episode 5000, the writers would be slipping the episode block number (a block being a set of 5 episodes) into the scripts each week, ending with the number 1000. This was mentioned in Thursday’s episode, when celebrant, Sarah Green told Boyd & Janae that they were the 1000th couple she’d married.
Episode 4996 saw Daniel O’Connor added to the regular cast list as Ned Parker, despite being in the opening titles since the beginning of the 2006 season.
