Valentine’s Day brought more heartbreak than happiness in Ramsay Street...

Janelle asked Janae for help to write a poem for Steiger for Valentine’s Day, instead Janae came up with the idea of a song, which Allan was thrilled with. Meanwhile, Frazer bought Rosetta the strange Valentine’s gift of a knife, which she loved. By the end of the week though she was singing a different tune as Frazer revealed to Rosetta that he was really George Brown, older brother of Ringo & Pauline and younger brother of her ex-fiance, Johnny leaving her furious and heartbroken. Feeling left with no choice, Frazer told Ringo that they were going to have to leave Erinsborough.

Max & Steph took a trip down memory lane whilst sorting out some old photos and realised that memories were all they had left, deciding to visit Valda & Lyn as planned before saying goodbye to their relationship for good. Upon their return, Janae saw straight through Steph’s act, but Boyd & Summer were convinced that things were back to normal and were devastated by the news that Max & Steph had split up and by the news that Max had taken a job on the Gippsland rigs and was moving to Sale. Summer assumed that the news meant that she’d no longer see Steph & Charlie, but Steph explained to Summer that as far as she was concerned, she was her daughter and the love between a mother and child was eternal and that Charlie was still her brother. At a picnic by Lassiter’s Lake before Max left Erinsborough, Boyd, Janae, Summer & Charlie played football as Max & Steph looked on at their family and how realised how blessed they had been.

When Oliver & Elle walked in on Carmella & Dylan they were furious and returned home immediately, but Dylan & Carmella couldn’t remember a thing. Thrilled with his work, Paul offered Ned the use of his new investment property, Karl’s old apartment, for free, but whilst Elle pushed Dylan away for good, Oliver seemed willing to take Carmella back. In order to bring the Timmins family down and regain control of Lassiter’s, Paul & Elle set out to get Oliver’s inheritance back for him, and win his heart for Elle. However, as Oliver took Carmella back, Paul set out to make it look as if Lassiter’s was failing to convince the Timmins family to sell their share and in order to get back at Dylan by proxy, Elle invited Glenn to Erinsborough, leaving Janae furious and Boyd confused. Watching Boyd with Glenn, Elle warned Boyd not to be so obvious where his feelings for Glenn were concerned.

Following their Andrew G outing, Lolly struggled to adjust to Pepper being Miss Steiger, but as Lolly revealed her bruises to Pepper and as she questioned the teen over them, she tried to get away and screamed, leaving Susan, Ringo & Rachel coming running. Realising how the situation looked, Lolly accused Pepper as being her abuser. With Pepper suspended, Susan felt as if she had no choice but to postpone the launch of the blogzine, but Ringo managed to convince her to let them go ahead with it out of school as long as she got to proof-read it 24 hours before it went online, leaving Rachel impressed. However, as Rachel received a Valentine’s card from a secret admirer, Bree realised that Ringo had the hots for the younger Miss Kinski.

The Kennedy-Kinski house and Karl’s beard became infested with lice, leaving them camping out in the back garden. However as Karl snuck Springsteen into the tent, Susan realised that the rooster was the cause, leaving the bird in dire straits. As Karl said goodbye to his feathered friend, he thought about all of the times they’d spent together, but Susan was adamant that the bird went.

Also this week, Lou’s Bonzair boss was furious with him for not flying and as Mishka phoned Karl, wondering if Lou was lying about his phobia of flying issuing the ultimatum: fly or kaputski, Lolly set out to help her father overcome his fear. Toadie received a Valentine’s card from Libby and thanked Susan for her interference but he was ok, however, he hired an escort to pretend she was his date and finally, Carmella claimed Rocco’s business back from her uncle.

Notes: This week saw the use of an in-episode promotion for ‘Shaun the Sheep’ during the 5.35pm BBC One showing of Neighbours. This ruined many scenes in what proved to be an emotionally charged week and infuriated many fans, leaving the BBC inundated with complaints.

Episode 5150 saw the departure of Stephen Lovatt as Max Hoyland. A full, illustrated summary of this episode can be viewed here. Due to this, episode 5151 saw the opening titles being updated, with Max & Katya being removed and the addition of Ringo Brown and Lolly Allen.
