Every relationship in Ramsay Street was severely tested this week, whether by God, ultrasounds or an ex-wife…

Izzy’s baby lies were beginning to catch up with her once more, as she went for her first ultrasound. An oblivious Karl tried to muscle in on the whole process by getting her a new doctor, but she was forced to talk her way out of the situation, knowing that she had to get the first scan out of the way without Karl knowing. Back at home, she then threw away the video of the scan, which Karl promptly found and tried to check, wondering why it had been thrown away. Luckily, Izzy managed to stop him and then Max interrupted, so Izzy’s secret was safe for another day. In what seemed to be an entirely separate storyline, Tom decided to leave the priesthood for Susan and the two officially became a couple. Despite strong opposition from a horrified Lyn, the couple finally seemed happy. However, things took a surprising turn as the new couple met Karl and Izzy in the park. Tom suddenly realised that the woman who had confided in him at the church was a lot closer to home than he could have known. A stunned Izzy managed to arrange a meeting with Tom, where he agreed not to tell Susan or Karl the truth about the baby. However, he almost broke this agreement when he began to tell Susan about Izzy visiting him, only stopping short of revealing the content of her confession. Izzy, meanwhile, told Tom that she would tell Karl the truth. However, Izzy broke down in tears before she could tell Karl, as she realised that she wasn’t quite ready to let go of the security he was providing for her and her unborn child…

The truth about Olivia’s double life was also closer to being revealed this week, as she struggled to avoid social situations with both Stu and Jack. Things grew more complicated as she began to befriend residents of Ramsay Street, including Libby, as they both dined at the same restaurant. She also lent a large sum of money to Jack, casting further doubts over how legit she was as a cop. It seemed that her cover was about to be blown, when she spotted Jack and Stu playing darts together at the pub, but, bizarrely, nobody worked out that Mac and Olivia were one and the same. When Lyn then spotted Olivia at the Coffee Shop, she tried to strike up a conversation in her usual interfering way, but only managed to alienate the girl. Lyn’s concerns then returned to her son, as she worried about his late nights, accident at work and the fact that he’d borrowed money from his new girlfriend. Never one to beat about the bush, Lyn asked Jack directly if he was taking drugs, but he assured her that he wasn’t. Mother and son had a frank discussion about things, and Jack promised her that he would change his ways. However, when she found him at work the next day, listening to loud music, she only just managed to cut the power before Jack would have electrocuted himself by sawing through the cable… Olivia is certainly a very good guest character for the show, but this entire storyline, particularly the parts involving her split identity, seems disjointed and difficult to swallow. Hopefully, once her two suitors work out that they’re chasing the same girl, things will pick up a bit.

Summer’s attempts to grow up and move on from her “childish” boyfriend Declan finally ended this week. After trying to get rid of him using witchcraft, she went down a more conventional route, as she simply told him that things were over. Declan had little opportunity to argue, while Summer decided the time was right to try to get the attention of her new crush, Braydden. Unfortunately, once she had managed to grab his attention, he humiliated her by telling her that he had no idea who she was. Things then took a surprising turn when an upset Summer walked into the Coffee Shop only to find Declan kissing her best friend, Lisa. A fight quickly broke out between the two girls and, naturally, Susan walked in, leaving Summer’s first taste of betrayal ending with her being suspended. Considering what an obvious premise this whole storyline was, it was probably one of the more believable and unpredictable ones in recent weeks, really giving the younger actors a chance to shine.

There were also problems of the heart for Libby, as she realised that her mysterious online suitor was none other than Darren. Nonetheless, she agreed to dinner with him, and began to realise that her resistance toward him was weakening. A kiss at the end of the evening was followed by Darren deciding not to stay the night, leaving Libby confused. Meanwhile, a confrontation at the pub between Karl and Darren left Libby feeling only anger towards her father. Meanwhile, Lou and Valda finally agreed to go on a date after weeks of living together in disharmony. With Valda especially reluctant, Lou went to a great deal of effort, but fate, or more premisely Trixie, stepped in. Valda waited for Lou at the restaurant, and he arrived just as she was about to leave. He admitted that a call from Trixie had delayed him and a horrified Valda walked out, vowing never to bother with him again. It seems that both of these couples are destined to be together at some point in the future, but, in typical Neighbours style, the road to love can’t be too easy.

Also this week, it was the end of Sky and Stingray’s art grant saga. Although Sky lied to Libby and pretended the work had all been her own, the truth eventually came out and Libby offered to expose Sky as a liar. However, Stingray decided that friendship was worth more and he was prepared to put the whole thing behind him in order to save Sky any more embarrassment. Gladys O’Grady returned to judge the Best Pub and Best Beer competitions. Following their discovery of the rival pub’s secret ingredient, Lou’s Place won the competition. Meanwhile, Sindi attempted to put up Chinese horoscopes in the Coffee Shop, leading to another falling out with Liljana, whilst Max and Steph attempted to wrestle back control of their wedding from Lyn and Valda...
