Sonya telling Toadie she sacked Talia... Toadie aghast at what Sonya thought he did... Sheila complaining to Sonya about her daughter... Sonya coming up with a solution for Naomi...
Mark telling Paul that Kate will still love him... Paul organising a surprise birthday party for Kate... Kate happy to celebrate her birthday alone with Mark... Mark looking at an engagement ring...
Both Mark and Paul are setting up for Kate’s birthday – Mark an intimate breakfast for two with the engagement ring in Kate’s glass of champagne and Paul going over-the-top with flowers, balloons and photos of Kate, as well as a cake, at Charlie’s.
..
..
At number 24, Mark leads Kate out to the table he’s set up for breakfast, telling her to keep her eyes closed. Mark tells Kate to open her eyes
and Kate is impressed with his efforts - she tells him that she loves him. Kate sits and comments that he didn’t have to go to all this trouble as it’s not a landmark birthday, but he says that he wanted to and proceeds to
ask Kate what her policy is for drinking champagne before 9am. Kate replies that she doesn’t have to go to school today, so she can be corrupted. Unfortunately they get an unwelcome guest (a fly) which Mark is quick to kill but
unluckily it ends up in Kate’s glass and she pours it, and the ring, over the balcony! Mark looks aghast but quickly recovers, trying not to let on as to what she’s just thrown away!
In number 30, Sonya is making plans for a chilled day at home with Toadie, however it is ruined when he gets a call from Charlotte, unimpressed that he’s trying to steal the Chile contract from them. Toadie doesn't have a clue what
Charlotte is on about but plans on going to the office to find out, despite Sonya trying very hard to tempt him into staying with a selection of junk food and RAW DVDs. Toadie, however, does not budge so Sonya suggests she accompany him.
..
Toadie heads straight into the office and confronts Naomi with the news - she confirms that she has tried to woo the Chileans. Toadie’s impressed with how much
profit they stand to make but thinks it's bad form to poach them, plus he doesn't want the time away from his family. Naomi seems unimpressed with Toadie’s decision.
Susan and Paul are in Harold's, chatting about the surprise party, when Karl arrives with a surprise visitor – Zeke! Susan's surprised to see her stepson and warmly embraces him, asking why he didn’t say he was coming; Zeke tells Susan
that he was trying to keep it a secret. Paul, happy to see Zeke, also tells him that his timing is perfect and asks if he knew about Kate’s party, to which Zeke confirms he did and will be going. Paul also adds that there is something
else planned for Kate today but doesn't say what it is, before he leaves.
..
On Ramsay Street, Mark makes arrangements to meet Kate for lunch at the lake before she heads off in the car. Once Kate’s gone, Mark heads straight into the
garden to try and find the ring and thankfully for him, he finds it fairly quickly. Mark then receives a mystery text from an unknown number, telling him that he's being watching. After reading the alarming text message, Mark looks
around to see if he can see anything.
In the back garden of number 26, Kyle is getting out of the hot tub and Sheila is filling Kyle in on the trouble Dane has got himself into in Thailand, concerned that Dane may end up in prison. Mark is showing Chris the text message he just
received, saying that he’s sure it’s from Montague. Kyle asks if he's back in town, Mark says that it's possible and they should all be careful as they all helped Danni go into hiding. Sheila says
to the guys “Oh great, I've got a grandson in an Asian jail and now we’re all in mortal danger from some neighbour’s psycho ex-boyfriend. Is there any other good news that I've missed?” Mark tells everyone that he doesn't want to make too
much of a big deal out of it, but asks that they just keep their wits about them.
..
In the Lassiter's Complex, Georgia hands over a present for Kate with instructions to open it later. Kate asks how Georgia is and Georgia tells her about the text
from Kyle wanting to meet up, but she’d rather they put things on hold for a while - so Kate tells her to stop looking for excuses not to get back with Kyle and cut him some slack. Georgia, thinking about what Kate has just said,
tells her to enjoy the rest of the day! After Georgia leaves, Kate opens the bag to see the present – it’s a framed photo of the two of them in Charlie's, taken in happier times.
Mark enters number 24, staring at the ring now safely back in its box, when an unwelcome visitor makes their presence known – Sienna! Mark’s not amused she’s broken in again and tries to get it through to her that he's with Kate and
that he loves and wants to be with her. Sienna tries to tell Mark that Kate doesn't want him and she certainly won’t marry him. Mark again informs Sienna that she needs to understand that they are over, and she angrily that she wasted two years of
her life on him and promises that she will never forget that. Mark orders her out of the house, telling her to go back to the Blue Mountains. Sienna tells Mark that she hates him and he’s kidding himself if he thinks he’s going to live happily ever
after, as it’s not going to happen. Sienna then storms out of the house.
..
..
Kate exits Harold’s and gets a double surprise – not just Zeke but her sister Sophie too. Kate embraces them both and Sophie asks she doesn't tell Paul that
she’s seen her, nor that she’s given the game away too about the surprise party! Sophie then realises that she's accidentally given away the surprise party too, but Kate promises to keep quiet. As they stand and chat, Paul spots the
three of them as he exits the hotel. Paul’s not happy the secret is blown but Kate
sweet talks him round and asks that the main thing she wants from him for her birthday is his blessing for her and Mark. Paul says to Kate “If that idiot is the man that you think that you want, I guess I can live with that”. Kate
thanks Paul and hugs him but Paul’s facial expressions indicate he is still not happy with Kate’s decision.
Naomi drops some papers round for Toadie to read and subtly tries to convince Sonya to persuade Toadie to take on the Chile contract, telling her about a couple she once knew who ended up resenting each other when one of them turned down
a big overseas job opportunity.
..
Later on, Naomi’s words are playing on Sonya's mind, and she unloads on Sheila and Susan, wondering if she is being a bad wife by holding Toadie back from
taking the Chile contract and suggesting that he'll end up resenting her. “Without a crystal ball who knows,” Susan replies but adds that Toadie has his priorities right - he loves his family more than anything and Sonya agrees
wholeheartedly but wonders if she should return the support he’s given her lately. Sheila asks if she wants her to tell Naomi to back off, but Sonya is quick to reject that offer and apologises for sounding off in the first place. Sheila
tells Sonya that she is not moaning and reminds her that they are her friends. Sonya agrees and tells them that they have helped and she knows now what she has to do. Sonya goes, and Sheila asks Susan if she should talk to Naomi, but Susan’s
advice is just to leave it for now.
As they're walking out of the builder's yard, Kate tells Kyle that she's just seen Georgia and urges him to hang in there, as there's still hope. Kyle replies that he will, because he loves Georgia and almost lets slip about the party,
but Kate tells him that Sophie has already given it away, so they agree to meet up later. Kate leaves, as Kyle is about to get into his ute, he recognises Montague's car, then spotting Montague as he slowly drives past, before speeding up
when he gets to the end of the road.
..
At Lassiter's Lake, Mark compliments Kate on her outfit when she arrives - she replies that she thought she would put something special on for her surprise
party... Mark realises that she knows about it, and she admits that she's just glad that relations between him and Paul seem to be improving. They kiss, Kate announces that she’s been thinking and she knows why they were meeting here - Kate
looks towards the padlocks on the chain but instead Mark walks her to the rotunda explaining that he was going to get her a padlock for Valentine’s Day, but she was too busy trying to pretend he didn’t exist. Inside the rotunda, Mark faces
her and says “I love you Kate. I know that we've only just found each other again but I want us to spend the rest of our lives together”. Mark pulls out the ring from his inside pocket
to show to Kate, and she is gobsmacked. Mark gets down on bended knees before continuing “Will you marry me?” “Yes!” is Kate’s answer. Mark stands up and slips the ring onto Kate's finger, they start to kiss, in between kissing, Kate keeps
telling Mark that she loves him.
In Charlie's, Kate’s guests are enjoying the spread that Paul has put on while they wait for the guest of honour to arrive. Karl then has to leave as he’s been called into work but hopes to be back in time for cake.
Toadie is also celebrating too, having won the Chilean contract, and while Toadie goes to get his wife a suitable drink, Naomi thanks Sonya for letting him go for the contract and tries to reassure her that he won't be away as much as she
fears. Sonya moves away and Sheila moves in to have a quiet word with her daughter, mentioning to Naomi that the Chilean deal isn't going to be good for the Rebecchis' relationship, but all Naomi says is that it's good for business.
Zeke and Sophie arrive for the party and report having seen Kate and Mark at the lake but felt it inappropriate to interrupt them. Paul asks one of them to go and get her.
..
..
Chris is walking through the complex, when he spots Montague and takes off to chase him after he does a runner. Chris loses him at the back of the
complex but someone spots Chris and hits him in the back of the leg, causing Chris to fall to the ground and unfortunately he’s knocked out cold after hitting his head on some rubble that's lying around.
Back at Lassiter's Lake, Zeke, Kyle, Georgia and Sophie have been sent out to bring Mark and Kate back to Charlie's. Kate explains that they do have a good excuse, and whilst everyone is catching up,
we can see that someone else is watching. Kate asks Mark if they should tell them or leave them in suspense - Mark says that he’s ready to shout it to the world. Kate proudly announces that they are getting married, whilst showing her
finger now adorned with an engagement ring. The gang are shocked but thrilled and Sophie goes to hug her sister first, before Zeke, then Georgia. Kate also thanks Georgia for her birthday present. Kyle plays it safe and shakes Mark’s hand
before Sophie hugs Mark and says to him “welcome to the family”. As they continue to celebrate, we can see that someone else is still watching them from afar.
..
..
Everyone is in the rotunda as it has started to rain; Sophie asks Kate if this is the best birthday ever, which Kate admits it is. Georgia reminds everyone that
there is a party that they should be going to, but Kate asks for a bit more alone time with Mark first. Kate asks for them not to say anything when they get to Charlie’s as they want it to be their surprise - everyone agrees and they go rushing
off trying to avoid getting wet. Kate turns to Mark and says “Do you have any idea how happy I am? It’s like my life is just one weird jigsaw puzzle and now all the pieces are finally back together, it’s like I can finally see my future and
you are going to be right by my side.” Just as Kate is in the middle of telling Mark that she loves him, a gunshot is heard and Kate immediately slumps to the ground.
