After going on a cruise, which he then found that he couldn't pay for, Lou Carpenter returned home wearing a neck brace, claiming that he'd slipped on a wet shuffleboard deck on the ship. It quickly became clear to his friends that he was faking the injury for the insurance, but he kept up the pretence, and put the neck brace back on, when insurance assessor Wendy Anderson came to visit. As he told her about the accident and how he was now housebound, then struggled through some exercises with a stress ball, she told him that he had a category C claim. However, Lou's neighbour Toadie then called in to return Lou's jacket, that he'd left at his place earlier, and Wendy realised that Lou had been lying about being stuck in the house. She then tried one more test, unexpectedly throwing the stress ball at Lou, which he caught, confirming her suspicions that he'd been faking the whole thing.
