When a young Hannah Martin was going through a "rough patch" - involving constantly wetting the bed and worrying herself ragged over the state of her parents' marriage - Jim and Helen decided to buy her a kitten to cheer her up. The arrival of young Crackers proved to be a success. Hannah was overjoyed to have a kitten to look after and care for, and never once let him out of her sight. It wasn't long, however, before Crackers was forgotten in favour of Hannah's new pet dog, Holly.
