Tony Daley 2013
Occupation: Manager of Lassiters Hotel

After starting out at Lassiters hotel as a bellboy, Tony Daley worked his way up to manager over several years, and was very loyal to hotel owner Paul Robinson. In 2013, a gas explosion ripped through the last-minute marquee that had been holding a wedding reception in the hotel's car park, and Paul was facing huge problems as the lapsed insurance hadn't covered events held in the car park. When a class action suit was launched against the hotel by Ajay Kapoor, a lawyer and widower of one of the victims, Paul did his best to save his business, asking Tony to get statements from all employees who worked on the last-minute marquee arrangement, making it clear that everyone needed to say that everything was up to the usual health and safety standards, even though Tony knew that this wasn't really the case.

Some weeks later, Paul was in more trouble, having attempted to bribe councillor Allan Hewitt, needing to win his vote to build some new luxury apartments at the hotel. When Paul was reported to the police, Allan quickly went to them himself, hoping to save his own skin. Paul then went to Tony, asking him to act as a witness and claim that Paul had never offered any money to Allan, and that the $10,000 was a legitimate business expense for the renovations on his home on Ramsay Street. Tony was reluctant to go along with the illegal plan, and when the new managing director of the Lassiters chain - Paul's younger sister Lucy - got wind of the way Paul had been using the company money, and that Tony had allowed it to happen, she decided that something had to be done. After sacking Tony as manager, she moved him to a new position within the company, hoping that it would keep his silence over her brother's dodgy business deals, and appointed Terese Willis as his replacement.
