The rich owner of Fielding Enterprises, Dan Fielding married his secretary Linda, amidst many rumours that she was only in it for the money. Following a car accident, in which the Fieldings had been hit by an 18-year-old joy rider, Dan was left crippled, and in hospital for many months. Linda took over the business, and proved her critics wrong as she continued to visit him and dote on him, and they made plans to move up north to Shangri-La, a house they'd had built. They had decided that Dan would retire on his 60th birthday, but tragedy struck when he suffered a heart attack and died very suddenly, only a couple of days before he'd been due to turn 60. Linda then decided that she would still fulfil their dream and move up north on her own, before the business consumed her life as it had done with Dan.
