Minister David Fry performed the wedding ceremony for Toadie and Sonya Rebecchi at a small country chapel. The wedding went without a hitch, but disaster struck at the reception, when a gas leak caused a huge explosion, which left two guests dead and Sonya with no memory of her wedding day. Six weeks later, with no sign of Sonya's memories coming back, Toadie decided to recreate the day, with a vow renewal by the lake. Once again, David Fry performed the service, and, during the vows, Sonya's memories started to return and, by the end of the day, she could remember everything.

Three years later, David Fry was also officiating the marriage of Imogen Willis and Daniel Robinson. As there'd just been two deaths in the Willis family, they decided on a small, quick affair away from their loved ones, so that Daniel could get a visa and join her in America, where Imogen had been offered a job. However, when some flowers were delivered to the Willis house, Imogen's parents, Brad and Terese, found out what was going on, eventually getting the details from Daniel's sister, Madison. Brad and Terese then burst in on the ceremony before it was complete, and managed to persuade Imogen and Daniel to return home with them and get married in front of their families and friends.
