In her ongoing quest to find herself a man, Brenda Riley decided to advertise her spare room at 24 Ramsay Street. After interviewing mummy’s boy Jerry Payne and blokey Ernie Grace, she thought she’d hit the jackpot when smartly dressed, polite Tony Gillespie turned up and loved the room. Having read his excellent references, she immediately offered him the room, but was left embarrassed when he asked to use the phone and let his fiancée know the good news. Brenda quickly claimed the phone wasn’t working, and that the room needed to be redecorated so he wouldn’t be able to move in for a few months.
