Glen Goldman 2001
Occupation: Radio Presenter

As one of Radio 3EE’s best known presenters, Glen Goldman met Lance Wilkinson when he appeared on the quiz, Brainbusters. Desperate to earn some money, so that he and his girlfriend, Allana Truman, could travel the world together, Lance applied for the quiz and was accepted, with science fiction as his specialist subject. During his first appearance, Glen posed Lance 5 reasonably simple questions and Lance got them all right, winning himself $500. Lance agreed to return the following week and potentially double up his winnings. During his second appearance, Lance started to build up something of a cult following, as Glen chatted to him about Allana and the seven labours she’d challenged Lance with, in order to win her heart. Lance then easily named three of the Star Trek Enterprise captains and bagged himself $1000, before quickly doubling up again to $2000.

Although Allana was against it, Lance decided to go back the following week, in order to double up his $2000. As his popularity grew, Lance was approached by show producer, Dave Dempsey, who made a passing comment to his star guest that he should swat up on the series Cosmosis before returning the following week. Once again, Glen chatted to Lance about his seven labours of love, before posing 5 questions on Cosmosis, which Lance easily answered, having studied the show. With Lance’s popularity soaring, Glen and Dave were delighted when he agreed to return and play for $8000. The cheating then became even more blatant as Glen handed Lance an envelope with the next week’s questions inside. Although it looked like Allana was about to leave him over his greed, Lance returned to Brainbusters to play for $8000, already knowing the questions he was about to be posed. Having answered all five correctly, Lance waited for Glen to take a swig of his tea, before suddenly announcing to the listeners that the whole contest was rigger and triumphantly walking out of the building with Allana by his side.
