Captain of the Erinsborough Fire Service, Ryan Holmes was one of the first on the scene when a fire broke out in the nearby national park, whilst many of the locals were doing voluntary work in the area. With many people still trapped out in the bushland, they hid in a water pumping station until the fire had passed over them. Afterwards, as they were being treated for minor cuts and bruises, Captain Holmes congratulated fire fighter Jay Duncan on a job well done, unaware that he was the person who had started the fire in the first place.
