Robert Hutchins 1985
After agreeing to help out a local drama group, consulting on a Czechoslovakian play they were planning, Maria Ramsay
was collected by younger man Robert Hutchins to go out for dinner. Her son Danny was unsettled by the new man, as his parents had only just announced their plans to divorce, but Maria insisted that
she and Robert were just friends, and she had just as much right to a personal life as anyone. When they went out again a couple of nights later, they were chatting in his car, and he was trying to persuade her to come to a guesthouse
that weekend. Although she was reluctant, he managed to convince her, but she was soon distracted when she noticed that her older son Shane and then her husband Max, who
both lived in a bedsit away from the street, had turned up for dinner with Maria's neighbour Daphne. As Robert walked Maria into the house, Max suddenly stormed out of Daphne's place following an argument
with her and Shane. He immediately spotted his wife with her friend, and rushed over, making threats. Not immediately realising who he was, Robert told him to calm down, then punched him as he got too close. Though apologetic,
Robert decided that he should probably leave, and this proved to be the end of Maria's new friendship.
