The loyal companion to young Mickey Gannon, big black Labrador Jake was often the only one the boy could rely on, as he moved from house to house, with various different guardians. After being looked after by his mum, Kirsten, and great grandparents, Mickey moved to Erinsborough following the deaths of his Nana and Pop, to live with his father, Ned Parker, whilst Kirsten dealt with her grief. Jake came too, and he, Mickey and Ned slowly found themselves getting along well, with Ned’s girlfriend Janae Timmins completing the little family unit. After starting out living at 22 Ramsay Street, Mickey, Ned and Jake then moved in with Janae at number 26, where they were joined by various other Parker relatives, and a pet kangaroo, Pouch. Soon after, Jake had a brush with death when he ate some snail pellets in the garden, but he pulled through, though Mickey was furious with Janae for not taking better care whilst gardening. However, when Mickey accidentally left Jake with a huge bag of dog treats and he became sick after eating too many, he forgave Janae, realising that sometimes mistakes happen.
