Mike Lawson 1985
Occupation: Vet

After Lucy Robinson witnessed a dog being run over on Bedford Street, she urged her dad, Jim, to come with her and see how badly it had been hurt. They took it to local vet Mike Lawson, who explained that the old dog might have to be put down, as nobody would want to give it a home. Lucy insisted that they keep the dog, who she had named Robert, after Robert Redford (which rhymed with Bedford), but Jim was adamant that they couldn’t have another pet. Jim agreed to pay for the dog to be saved, while back at home, Lucy convinced her older sister Julie to help her convince Jim, who eventually relented. But, only hours after they’d brought the dog home, neighbour Max Ramsay recognised it as Patch, who belonged to elderly Mr Graham on Bedford Street, and Lucy was forced to return the dog, though Jim then agreed to visit the RSPCA and get the family a new pet.
