Following a fight with his girlfriend Josie, Callum Rebecchi tried very hard to win her back, eventually deciding that he would buy her a puppy. Callum then adopted a puppy from the local shelter and presented him to a delighted Josie, who named him Loki, but unfortunately then found out that she was allergic to dogs. Though the gesture brought the couple back together, Josie had to give Loki back to Callum, who then tried to persuade his parents Sonya and Toadie to let him keep him. Though Sonya, as a former guide dog trainer, was keen on the idea, Toadie was concerned that it would just be a way of papering over the cracks that were appearing in their marriage, and so he refused. Sonya then contacted old friend Lucas, and he and his wife Vanessa agreed to have Loki come and live with them at their cottage in Daylesford.
