When Reece Sinclair arrived at Lassiters Hotel, seemingly to check out the business that her father’s company, Sincast, had invested in, it soon emerged that she had an ulterior motive for the visit. Reece was actually searching for her half-sister, Krista, the wild child of the family who’d gone missing, her last contact being a postcard from Lassiters. As Reece started trying to work out whether Krista had definitely been at the hotel, she started asking staff to do ‘market research’ for her, including Tina, who worked at the spa. As Tina came in late from her break, bragging to a friend on the phone about how she’d be able to leave early, she spotted Reece standing behind the desk. Tina insisted that Paul allowed her to do ‘flexitime’ when there weren’t too many bookings, and Reece handed her a list of guest names - including Kelly Miller, the fake name that Krista had been using at the hotel. She explained that she wanted any information Tina had in the records from their visits to the spa, and that if she could help, then Reece could turn a blind eye to Tina’s poor timekeeping.

Within a few months, following more complaints from hotel guests, Tina was fired from her job. However, when hotel co-owner Paul Robinson learnt that his ex-wife Terese Willis was going to approach the council with her plan to open a combined retirement home and high school on the former site of Erinsborough High, he went to Tina's father, Councillor Anthony Marin, and offered to give Tina her job back, if Anthony could help to push through Terese's proposal.
